what a waste of time, espesially as 80% of price is f**kin TAX :banghead

Sorry ghostrider, but your totally blinded by government bullshit if you think there 80% tax on fuel......... It's the way the government states it.... :bs :bs :bs

I work it out the true way....... If a litre of fuel is 40p and you add 100% tax, it would still only be 80p a litre.

Not exactly sure what a litre of fuel costs, but on 40p per litre, the tax would work out at around 250% !

The government isn't worried about a penny a litre at the moment, as it looks like fuel is set to rise due to crude oil prices, and there percentage will go up when the oil companies hike up there prices !

Well Petrols "ÂŁ1,55.9" per Litre on the Island of Arran (west coast Scotland in the River Clyde) at the moment!!

How are people supposed to afford that in the rural communities?

Mental!! :shake

The reason petrol is going up has nothing to do with the Government, it's down to the price of crude on the international markets so while tax on fuel in the UK might be high you can't blame the Government for some dealer getting up with the hump and deciding to move the market as his bonus will be higher if the oil price is higher.

As for reducing the tax, what the fuck do you expect him to do? We have to pay for the biggest spendup by any Government in history so that we're not left in the same position as Greece and Ireland, or would you rather put up with this crap for the next 25 years? Petrol isn't that much cheaper in Europe than it is here but check out the levels of taxation on other stuff in those countries, especially income tax and you'll see that we're not actually that hard done by.

There are plenty of other areas money could be saved, stopping the bullshit in Libya for one, maybe then the Government could consider a reduction in fuel duty.

To Mr Buzzwagon,

On behalf of myself and indeed some of my fellow colleagues on this fine motorcycle forum, would like to take this oppurtunity to thank you for your concise appraisal of yesterdays budget announcement. I do not understand how such a potent and obvious flair for solving monetary problems, explaining fuel costs and the bringing of world peace has not been snapped up the government, this is one of the biggest disgraces we will probably see this year! :thumbup

All this bitching about the price of fuel but why oh why isn't there the fuel protests of yester years when fuel was a LOT cheaper than it is now :rolleyes

And the ONLY reason we're in Libya is because they have plenty of fuel, absolutely nothing to do with people getting killed by their leaders, if that was the case why doesn't the UN go into Zimbabwe or other places like this !!!!!!!!
