Yes I was there today... before it opened as I was helping on the Riders For Health stand -
http://www.riders.org/
One of the first things I did having got there was to check out the Honda stand and was dissapointed to find "Sorry we couldn't get
IT from europe" pretty pathetic really that a company like Honda seem to have ONE bike in europe... and as you say it really is a missed opportunity.
I gave quite a few business cards to one of the Honda people and asked them to give them to anyone who asked about the bike... I hope they did.
The show itself was much of a muchness... better than the last Ally Pally I went to a few years back.... some good deals to be had I thought as well. I got a Arai Viper GT UK Flag for a very good £280 and a pair of Sidi Vertigo Goretex boots for £170 both from Helmet City. A good selection of stuff for sale on the stands... I never saw any of the arena/stunt action.
As far as bike stands are concerned... all the usual guys were there.... really big BMW stand in the center with lots of big bikes on it. The Hoinda stand had all the current models and the 2008 Fireblade.... must say I think it looks much better in the flesh. The Ducati stand had lots of nice eye candy bikes. I do like the Suzuki GSXR1000 although it has a kind of cheap look about it. The latest Kawasaki Z1000 looks like a dogs dinner, cheap and nasty. No Triumph stand, but I was quite interested by the KTM... I sat on a few and thought I could get used to owning one.
The MCN girls were frankly pretty rank I thought!.... personally I think the whole burd thing is tacky and I at least wouldnt miss them not being at these shows.
Is it worthy going... I wouldn't normally bother and pay the... £18???? but if you have a good ideal what you are wanting to buy there are savings to be had, especially on lids I think.
Good to catch up and have a chat with Ripper.... and was amazed when AndyB (Style Guru :lol and hooner from years gone by) came up to me... it was got to have a chat with him :welcome Andy if you are reading this.
