No no, I haven't proposed (again), I finally convinced the Mrs to let me have the CB1000R, after months of trying!

She kept saying "we can't afford it", so I called the finance company to get a balance on my Hornet's credit, and to see if I can get more cash without paying more a month. It actually turns out that I can get the extra cash I need and pay £18 less a month than I already am, so that argument went out the window. So, she relented and agreed. Finally!

In the morning I shall be phoning around to see where I can get a bike from on launch, including those wonderful people at Doble Honda. I want a few accessories at the same time so I'd might as well make the most of my 40% discount that they offer to HondaCB1000R.com members when purchasing a new bike :thumbup

How excited am I? :D

Luck, lucky man... :thumbup

My ex' used to side track any conversation which involved (even talking vaguely) about new cars. (Bikes were out of the question as they were far to dangerous.) :taunt

Being a 'free man' does have it's benefits. :evil

Being free has advantages, but so does being able to talk the wife into agreeing to stuff like it's her idea :thumbup

Now to make a few phone calls now I'm up... lets see what happens!

As a follow up, I've just spoken to Mike at Doble who has done me a deal I'm more than happy with. Good part-ex price on the Hornet, possibly delivering up here in Mansfield, haven't decided yet whether I want to come down and pick it up myself. Paid a £200 deposit now and ordered a carbon hugger, heated grips and black seat cowl.

Now I understand why people who've had their money down since last year are getting frustrated. I want my bike now! :lol

Just make sure you get fully comp before you sling it down the road or play chicken with an uninsured nigerian minicab.

Been there and done that but it can backfire...

Also they never forget such "favours"... when you are having a row or she wants something suddenly she'll remember that new bike she so happily agreed to :lol

Every bike I have bought has been as a result of some nifty negotiation :lol the latest thing being my new super-sexy-large LCD TV :lol

But as I say I will be reminded about all these things and how good she is to me :rolleyes

just a quick question really Ant.

You said you added extra bits in when you ordered from Dobles. I was considering getting some similair bits myself when i come to order mine, was just wondering what kinda prices the rear seat cover etc were coming in at ?

Also was considering getting some riding gear as in leathers etc when i order from Dobles but there online shopping range for stuff seems very limited :(

cheers

We have no prices at present Bez, and although we, as HondaCB1000R.com members are able to claim a 40% discount on these parts (Thanks Doble :thumbup ) I really had the choice between a 40% discount and the book price for my Hornet, or a couple of extra £100s on top of my Hornet's value and a 25% discount on parts. I took the latter.

It's expected that the seat cowl will be £150+, likewise the hugger, although it's small so we may get away with a little less. The grips will cost £160, but I suspect that they appeal to very few of you guys

ahh ok :)

Just thought you might have had some hard figures for the accessories. Cant see me getting mine near the actual release date tho so its not a big deal right now for me. Afew things need to happen before i can go in and pay cash for a lovely new CB1000R !! :)

p.s its still a daily battle between the white or black, hehe :)
