Out for a blast today.
While sat next to the bike having a drink I noticed my near side fork seal has been leaking.

Can't believe this but I must have done it today as I picked the bike up from it's service and it needed a new tyre.
This is the first run on the bike since fitting the new tyre.

Seems a little strange to me that I can blow a seal under normal riding.

Only 5500 miles on the clock and no pits in the forks this is very strange.

I find it hard to believe the dust cover looks fine just the tell tale oil at the bottom of the fork leg.

Very easy under warranty.

If you were to attempt it, you'd almost certainly need a specialist tool to remove the damper rod.

Does a blown fork seal count as a warranty claim I thought it would come under consumables.

With consumables the argument will be between what is normal wear and tear (which at 5.5k miles is unlikely) vs a material failure. At the very least I'd expect the dealer to meet you half way on costs.

What like the chain I had to renew 1 month into owning the ex demo bike.

They "cleaned it up" for me before collection sold me a new one at price but wanted full labour for fitting (if I'd let them)

Sounds like you ought to try another dealer. If there is a warranty claim you can go through any dealer for it.

Went for our monthly ride today with the group of 20 bikes did around 250 km, At lunch someone was looking at my bike and noticed that the right fork had been leaking. I have just ticked over 3500km going to dealer in the morning hopefully get a good outcome. Going on a four day trip to the mountains as of this friday hope it doesn't take long to fix.
