is the CB1000R heavy on the purse with the insurance?

4 years ago with 4 years NCB I paid £300 a year (on monthly instalments ,yes I know more expensive if paid monthly) but that was with the Pan European 1300....fast forward to now, 4 years later 8 years NCB and I pay £600 with the CB1000R???

shall I just get rid of my NCB or the bike or both? :D :D :D

PS I am 46 yrs young and have IAM test-pass, all factors which should not make my insurance ramp up that much so I don't understand? I had a 'phantom quote' for the Honda Crosstourer (1200cc) and that came out even more at £800 so maybe it's not the CB1000R but me? or just life?

That does seem a bit expensive with the record you have.

Have you had a shop around yet ??

Sounds expensive, I've just recently renewed same age max NCB and using MCN compare website had 3 decent quotes that I liked in the 150-155 £ mark. There were even cheaper quotes but you have to weigh what they offer. My renewal was around £45 over this and after telling my broker they brought it down to match so stayed.

A main factor will be your post code and whether garaged or not. So if you live in Salford and park it on a road..........

Does seem strange but possibly the insurer has better claims experiences with Pans than CB1ks?

Get on go compare or similar and throw your details in, at least will tell you what options there are.

I pay about 170 with >10 years ncb, including legal cover, and there were cheaper options but happy with that. But I am an old fart

All depends on age, location, where parked etc....

Good luck

I don't live in Salford (thank god) but I do live in Manchester with an 'M' postcode and that makes it more expensive, with 9 years NCB I paid £250 with all manner of add on's.... that is expensive.

Postcode count for so much. Me: 50, Zero No claims on a bike, 9+ on a car, Premium is £200. Northumberland Postcode & kept in a Garage seem to be the major factors. The benefits of being old eh?
Age has an impact but certainly where you live is the main reason for higher premiums, living in an inner city scuppers any cheap insurance.

yes postcode perhaps, but I lived in same place with PanEuropean! I am now older and have more no claim bonus AND I 'have' shopped around, this was the 'cheapest' quote I could get, something is 'very fishy' and someone wants me to stop biking!

I have to say it is with 0 voluntary excess and protected no claims, but I have had that with Pan European too, so that is not the reason of it doubling up either!
