Yesterday Honda notified all their UK dealers about the forthcoming price and release date of the CB1000R.

I have summarised all the key bits...

The CB1000R will be released in the UK on Friday 4th July.

The non ABS version will cost £6,950 OTR excluding road tax and the ABS version at £7,450 OTR excluding road tax.

Deliveries will commence Friday 27th June. Demonstrators and customer orders will take priority. Any bikes at dealers cannot be displayed publicly except at special VIP events or to new customers.

A CB1000R microsite will go live on Friday 23rd May and a banner will feature on http://www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles page linking to this site. The banner will feature a countdown timer counting down to the launch date.

In the meantime Honda will be starting a significant marketing campaign with mailshots and online advertisements.

Doble Motorcycles are likely to have a VIP pre-release evening so please watch this space for further details. Also remember that any bike purchased from them will entitle you to a 40% discount off of parts and accessories ordered at the same time as the bike or on the collection day.

Hey Dan, Finally some concrete information. But however, having spoken to my dealer (Hunts) who is not happy, it seems that honda has been somewhat economical with the truth. Firstly the bike was slated for a feb release, then put back to may. I think that this was just a smokescreen, as was the statement that it is in fact an 09 bike so it is being released early. Why didnt honda just say that as i for one would still have ordered one for 2009. I have to say that im pretty jacked off at the fiasco that this has been and shows that honda doesnt give two sh**s for either their customers or their dealers. As my bike, an 07 blade is coming up for a service and new tyres, i may decide to keep this, ride the demo cb and re-order for next year, or not! Anyway rant over, and at least people can now decide what to do for definite, and if im brutally honest, ive waited this long, as i ordered mine in december, and another 7 weeks or so wont matter. But i wont be drawn into this situation again

Personally I believe that although there has been little-to-no information from Honda up until now, that they have been making sure that the bike is right before releasing it. I don't agree that this is a 2009 model as it features in 2008 catalogues, but then, just because it's a 2008 model doesn't mean that it has to be available from January 1st.

I think this is great news, especially on the price, which makes it a great deal. And now we actually have a date to look forward to. I can't wait for that day personally and I'll do my best to get to my local dealer for a couple of hours and hopefully a test ride! :thumbup

Yes it is longer than expected... I personally was expecting about May... but as you say it isn't too much longer to wait.

The price is better than I expected, I was expecting the bike to cost around £7300 (non-ABS) on the road.
