Hi All.

Found this site while Googling for the CB1000R, after my interest was re-awakened after seeing pics of that XESS special. :lick

Currently on an 06 Z1000, and was considering possibly changing this spring. Had narrowed it down to:

FZ1 Fazer (the faired one) - The more practical sensible route.

Speed Triple - The sexier route.

And now I've got to consider the CB1000R as well. :D
Looks like it could be what I hoped the 07 Zed would be. More of the same only better. Instead of fatter and uglier.:rolleyes

I can't see me putting money down on one without seeing the final specs and having a test ride as well, unlike some of the brave souls on here. So I don't have to make a decision for a few months yet. Though I do seem to have gone from possibly changing to probably changing. :D

I'll be checking in here in the meantime to keep informed of the latest movements.

Cheers

Hi Mac and :welcome

So good bikes to choose between there (I own an FZ1) but we are all hoping that the CB1000R will be a sensational bike... time will tell but do pop by and feel free to contribute/comment on anything. :thumbup

Hi Mac, :welcome to the site!

I hope the bike is what you hope it is, but you have a level head and I like that. I don't, I'm going crazy over the CB and I can't wait! Fingers crossed I won't be let down either :lol

Hope you enjoy your time here :thumbup

Hi Mac,

Looks like your short list of bikes is a bit like mine....

Faired Fazer - sensible choice
Tuono - not so sensible choice
CB1000R - somewhere in between... maybe..??

I dunno. Fazer looks with aprilia electrics, Honda could be on to a winner. :)

Thanks for the welcomes.

Still haven't decided if I will make a change this June time. But if I do I suspect the CB1000R will be the one.
Fortunately the Zed's feeling really good at the minute, as I've sorted a few little niggles. So that's less temptation to swap.

I'm not sure what I'm expecting the new bike to be. I don't want massively more power than the Zed. Just a bit more. But it would be good if the torque curve was broad and flat. The zed does not very much below 3K, a bit more until 5K where it picks up & then picks up again at 7K. Be better if the 5K urge was available from 2.5K or so. And classier suspension would be good too. Plus honda quality.

Hmmm, when I write it like that, it doesn't seem enough to be worth swapping a fairly young bike to take a chance on a brand new model.
Still thinking :)

Mines coming up for 3 years old and although I still like it (made a few changes myself) I'm hoping to change it later on in the summer or maybe autumn time.

The new Zed seems to have a much better power curve than the older one (more power low and mid range but lost a couple of hp top end - but I can live with that loss) but the suspension is still woeful. If Honda can give the bike a power curve similar to the new Zed but make it handle, it will defo be a major consideration for me...
