A friend at work was asking about the gearing of the CB1000R compared to the Fireblade. He was under the impression that it was the same as the 2007 'Blade that the engine is based on. Here are the figures:
Blade / CB1000R
Primary Reduction:
1.604 (77/48) / 1.604 (77/48)
Gear Ratios:
1 2.538 (33/13) / 2.538 (33/13)
2 1.941 (33/17) / 1.941 (33/17)
3 1.578 (30/19) / 1.579 (30/19)
4 1.380 (29/21) / 1.363 (30/22)
5 1.250 (25/20) / 1.217 (28/23)
6 1.160 (29/25) / 1.115 (29/26)
Final Reduction:
2.625 (42/16) / 2.750 (44/16)
So, what's different? 3rd appears to be different, though I can't figure out why according to the figures, 4th is different (1.380 (29/21) / 1.363 (30/22)), as is fifth (1.250 (25/20) / 1.217 (28/23)) and sixth (1.160 (29/25) / 1.115 (29/26)). Final drive is also different with a 42/16 gear ratio on the Blade and a 44/16 on the CB1000R.
So now you know, the answer to the question that only one person ever bothered to ask. :lol Rich, if you're reading this then I hope that helps :thumbup
