I've owned a 2008 1000rr, 2007 600rr I currently have a 2007 1000rr track bike and the CB1000r.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've owned honda everything my whole life. However if honda doesn't make my a nasty new CB by this time next year I'll be leaving.

The 06 07 is a great bike for me its everything I need. I'm a big guy and it's a larger big so it fits me well. But if you ever wanted to make it a truly competitive race bike it's old and needs lots of work done suspension and geometry wise. They look the best in my opinion and crash very well. I got mine for next to nothing or I would have probably bought a 2008 + that being said I'm faster in my 2006 that. I was on my 2008 it's just easier to ride.

The 2008 + is a better faster more nimble package. I personally think it less forgiving and more twitchy than the 06 07 but no debating that it's a better base platform.

The 07+ 600rr is a track weapon. I'm just not a fan of riding 600s anylong. Nothing to do with hp I'm lazy and do the like shifting and love the torque. I didn't keep it long but they make great track bikes.

My CB can't hold a candle to my 600RR on the track. I don't even think it's close after 60mph in a straight line...
One if my biggest complaints with the CB more so just at first. The fact that it gets walked on by 600s hurts alittle.

The CB truly shines in the mountains and canyons. On the track you have to be inventive to get around people.
