Just got a 2019 cb1000r and only have rode it twice so far. Still too cold unfortunately. So I am noticing a few things related to shifting that are concerning but am unsure if it's normal. I am getting a cable click sensation in the clutch occasionally and am unsure if it's normal slipper behavior? The clutch also grabs a lot further out than I am used to. Like 3/4 to the end of the clutch throw the friction zone begins. Im used to about half way. Bike only has 4000mi and assumming the previous owner wasnt squiding i dont think its wear. Also, yesterday I noticed shifting from 2nd to 3rd was difficult at times. Very inconsistent. I had a few missed shifts then paid more attention to it. Seems like it was almost getting stuck at times. I'd have to really try to shift with proper foot placement and intent. Not effortless and smooth like it had been all day. I can't tell if it was fatigue bc I was 3.5hrs into a spirited ride, improper foot placement, or a trans issue. From what I read there isn't many Trans problems on this bike. I'm hoping it was my big fat feet lol. Wondering if anyone else noticed these things?

Click is not unusual when new (there were many comments), and may be affected by type of oil (I don't get click with Honda HP4...)
can be sticky plates

for friction point, could either adjust the freeplay of the lever... or get adjustable aftermarket lever...

quickshifter? (then rarely need to use clutch :) )

I'm gonna change the oil, I got all the stuff yesterday during my ride. Synthetic honda oil and a k&n filter.

The freeplay is within tolerance at the lever. I may have to adjust cable down near the trans.

I don't believe it has the quick shifter. How can I tell? It's not the black edition just a stock abs model.

Okay, to use the quick shifter on upshifts hold the throttle steady in any position, 1/4, 1/2, full, whatever.
On downshifts the throttle must be completely closed.
Obviously the clutch is not used for up or down shifts.
Understood, but I was having issues with traditional upshifting. Idk maybe I was just fatigued. It didn't happen all ride except for the last 30min.

Is there a way to check w.o that service tool?
As far I as know not on the SC80. The SC77 lets you change the settings to turn upshifts on/off and downshifts on/off independently in the standard menu.

If you upshift with throttle and without clutch you'll know if the QS is working. On dowshifts it blips the throttle so keep it closed. At lower RPM downshifts will give you a little kick in the pants. Higher RPM is smooth.

Yeah I don't feel comfortable just slamming her in and outta of gear without being certain. I just went for a quick ride and it felt fine. I'm hoping I was just tired and lazy. Truely appreciate your input and help.
