'18 Punchy shifting.

Hello everyone, recently i bought Honda CB1000R '18 NSC and after a while I noticed that when I try to shift gears there is a punch in the gearbox. It's like two metal plates hitting harmfully inside the box. I can hear it especially when I try to downshift from 3 to 2. It's not my first bike and I know how to use lever clutch and how to shift properly :) And yes before downshifting I rev a little to synchronise speed, but it’s all the same difficult to switch smoothly. Thx guys for responses.

It’s all good. I use the QS frequently, but, find it works best at higher RPM’s. Plus, I like to use the clutch as well. I figure it’s good to be proficient in all aspects of the machines operation. I am still (at the dealers suggestion) limiting myself to 6000 RPM’s for about another 300 miles which is the remainder of the break in period I have decided on. I only have about 300 miles on the bike, so I’m sure with more riding my timing and coordination will improve.

I always use the QS no matter how sedate or aggressively I ride. Same with my SC77 SP. It wasn't standard on my 2019 so I had it installed. Really love banging down the gears from 75mph to 0 when I come off the highway to the traffic light at the end of the off ramp.

No doubt it’s a kick in the pants to use the QS! It’s one of my favorite things about the bike. When I went for a ride up our local mountain I used it a lot! Banging down the gears getting set up for the turns was exhilarating, too be sure!
