my thoughts on full akra + rapid bike

The akrapovic headers been laying in my living room for 3 months.
I was hoping dynojet will come up with something for our NSC but riding season just started where I live and I wanted the headers installed.
because there is no word on power commander, rapid bike it is.

1st impression: bike became loud, very loud! i have the smaller akrapovic muffler.
power on the other hand was restored (4k+ rpm). I no longer need to downshift to 5th in the highway for overtaking. this is a torquey motor, I had similar feeling in my previous '13 CB1000R with intake/exhaust/PCV. although no top end rush like my '13.
fueling isn't ideal,, probably needs more riding time to sort that out?

unfortunately, bike now in the workshop to revert back to stock headers. this is only due to the loud exhaust. even with earplugs,, it's too loud for me.
while the added power in the mid range is a plus, I still prefer a quieter bike
did I mention the bike became very loud?

    hope this helps..

Hahaha...yep....they do tend to be a bit loud don't they?
Was it still too loud with the baffle in?

Vampire, you should have received a baffle with the original can.
Before you revert everything back to stock why not try fitting a baffle?
They're available as a part from Akrapovic.
Just a thought, be a lot easier than swapping everything.

If you still want to swap, can you pm me please?
    Ta!

I have the shorty akra can, didn't come with a baffle.
Thinking about purchasing the tall can.
You think the sound will be civilised with the baffles in?

    Should be heaps quieter.
Fuelling may require some attention though.

    Thanks for the advice.
Will go ahead and order the tall akrapovic muffler. I just confirmed it comes with welded baffle.

But I thought the rapid bike will take care of fuelling!

I'm extremely disappointed with DynoJet and the extremely slow development of the fuelling solution for the NSC. They had my bike over a year ago as a test base. Essentially nothing has happened other than a few dyno runs.

Interesting to hear your thoughts on the Rapid Bike module. I've now heard nothing but good feedback about it. I think it could be the way forward for me too. Just so you know I have a full Akra exhaust system (with the Road end can that does come with a db baffle. It is secured with a bolt that has a small tack weld. It can be removed but a hole needs to be drilled into the carbon cap to access it). Full system and end can with the baffle installed has a great sound. Not particularly loud at all. I've done 400 mile days and sound has not been an issue.

Where did you get your Rapid Bike module from?

I have the exact same setup as you - the full Akra system with the Road end can. I don't seem to have any fuelling issues, from a throttle action perspective, but mine does seem to run a little rich... I smell of gasoline/oil after a decent run, especially my riding jeans. Akra has a CPU map for the full system, but my dealer doesn't have the gear to remap the ECU. Anyone had that done?
