    Front tyre advise please

Hey guys, I'm sorry if this has already been asked a gazillion times, I tried the search but it bought up heaps of stuff, none of which was relevant.

I need a new front tyre, can you recommend one? I mostly ride in the dry unless I get caught out, I don't absolutely thrash it everywhere but I like to have some fun as well as just cruise about.

    Cheers

Sounds like you can go with a sport/touring tire. If you trash the bike a lot can recommend mich power pure, helps well in handling too.
    Smile, it confuses people.

The CB1000R is known to shake its head when you go for it. I was talking to a guy who trackdays alot on his and he said before you go the steering damper route try Michelin 2ct tyres and they will transform the handling. Lookin at the well used tyres on his bike he probably knows what hes talkin about. I'm fitting em to mine this summer so cant comment yet but I had em on my cbr600rr and they were fantastic in dry and wet.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll look into them both.

Anyone else fitted the bridgestone bt-23's or Michelin 2ct to their CB's..?

    Re: Front tyre advise please

    I have tried both.

My CB1000R was fitted with Pilot Power 2CT when i bought it.
    - I don't like these tires. If felt they were "grabbing" every white line on the road, tarmac-repair and crack in the road, and changed direction after them.
Maybe it was because the tires were worn quite a lot in the middle.

I changed the tires for CB023's. I have been using BT021's on my SV1000N, and were very happy with them . So i figured the BT023 was worth a try.
And yes. The profile of the rear tire is a little more round that the PP2TC, so you will have to get used to them. But the grip is fantastic.
I live in Denmark, where the temperature is quite low. But it is very easy to get the BT023's to a nice temperature. They stick very nicely to the road and are almost impossible to wear down. A friend of mine did 16.000 km on a set of BT023 on a CB1000R, driving twisted roads and even a few trackdays.

Mine have only done 4000 km so far, but they still look brand new

I have the BT-023 on mine. Can't fault it. Be aware that there are 2 versions of the 023; the standard 023 which you'll want and the 023GT which is for heavier, touring type bikes like the FJR1300 etc. I have the 023 on the rear and a BT-016 on the front and it's great.
Be the exception, never the rule.

I have used pilot power Tyres standard and 2ct on my bikes for the last few years and must say they are brilliant ,grip like shit to a hairy blanket so good in fact I've never felt the need to try anything else . They did get a little bit squirmy after 5 sessions in a 30 degree heat at mallory but it was the hottest day of the year . Fantastic
Knee down you know it makes sense
