    Oil change

Hi everyone I'm new to this site but I've had my cb100r since new which is now 3yr old... My question is what's the best oil to use as I wanna do an oil change myself. Mileage is... 8k thereabouts and I do ride it quite hard many thanks emma

Hello Emma, I'd recommend Castrol 'Power 1 Racing' fully synthetic. Honda seem to favour 10w/30 in recent times but 10w/40 would also be fine. I've used the 10w/30 with an annual oil & filter change for the last 5 years and the bike runs lovely - gearbox is very slick too - I'd also stick to the OEM oil filter.

No problem Emma, yeah this subject usually sparks an awful lot of different opinions , I hesitate to say 'mass debate' I'm sure this oil is an excellent choice though, trust me on that.

Hi ! - I've recently asked some similar questions on here and currently run Castrol Power 1 semi Synth 10-40 (seems slicker on the gears too) - changed at 6k but next oil change will be at 8k when 'll try Castrol 'Power 1 Racing' fully synthetic after recommendations - as advised oem filter is recommended although i have run the K&N filter too (but it doesn't fit within the oil filter cover too well)...hope you're enjoying the bike

Yeah and because its red its easier to keep an eye on its condition , when it goes black time to change , not that black oils bad it just seems to coincide with the service times x

Yeah the oil darkening simply means it's doing its job, suspending all the contaminants out of harms way.

We only seem to have the Castrol Power RS Racing 10w-40 full synthetic here in the states. It's probably similar, but it's not red in color. I used it oil change before last, but now running Mobil1 0w-40. My shifter foot tells me it's smoother, but no science...LOL.
