I know there are sponsors of the site that do a great job, but and its a seventy quid but, shop around, a quote I got from Dobles was seventy quid dearer than another Honda dealer for the same parts..... it pays to shop around....

No.... Fook 'em... if its their "best price" then its that one that counts.... no second chances when it comes to prices.

If you can make it cheaper second time it just means you were trying to rip me the first time...

    Re: Discount or shop around?

I agree its always good to shop around, and yes I would buy at the cheapest.

But don't always blame the dealer for being more expensive, there could be reasons beyond their control for their prices.

Years ago I was after a pair of ZX6r's I ended up doing a deal with Whites in Swindon. Bridge in Exeter who were trying to get my business had to throw their hands up, what they couldn't understand was Whites were doing it cheaper than Bridge could even get the bikes from Kawasaki at cost. They wern't very happy about it and wasn't much they could do.

Depending on the parts you were after may effect what price Dobles have themselves to pay for it. Yep they offer discount to members, but they can't give stuff away with no profit. Otherwise they wouldn't be in business. I know Ian wasn't to happy when I bought my bike and was given a large discount on any parts I was after at the time, understandable as it meant they were giving them away. But it would have been made back within the total sale.

If both dealers were getting the bits at the same price at cost then I would be questioning Dobles about why there is a difference.

Thats why as you say shop around, I only get annoyed with dealers if they are knowingly taking the piss.
