    Discount ot not to Discount?

Can I just ask if anyone got a discount on their new CB1000R?

One local dealer said "No way" - too much demand just now and a shortage in supply.

Anther dealer has just just offered me £7000 for my 08 Gixxer 1000 which cost me £7500 in April, it's got 1000 miles on it , basically a straight swop - I thought that was a good deal - what do you all think?

What's the mileage on the Gixxer? And how did you manage to get it for only £7500

My local dealer received 6 CB1000Rs initially and 3 were pre-sold before the buyers had even seen them.
On the subject of colour, we often do jest
"It's black", "No it's white", "No it's red that looks best",
But deep down inside we know that it's grey

Here in sweden Honda have a special offer; buy a new CB1000R before 1st Aug 2008 and you get a voucher for 5000kr (about £420) to spend on Honda accessories.

But because I had no trade in (sold my 2007 R1200R privately) I managed to get a further 5000kr knocked off the price!

Totally I'm paying 115.000kr (about £9,680) for a abs bike and over £400 worth of accessories. So you could say I am paying 110.000kr (or about £9,260 for the actual bike).

But those prices are REALLY expensive compared to the £7,450 list price (though Dobles are only £6,950) that I've seen on UK sites!!! (perhaps partly due to us having 25% sales tax in Sweden).

1000 miles on the Gixxer - what do you think?

I bought it for £7500 as t was a K7 Model - identical to K8 but "last years model" RRP £8995.

Have to confess that I have had a BMW HP2 Sport on order for nearly a year, but getting fed up of waiting.

Personally, I have no interest in owning a sports bike, so I'd go for the CB every time!

Regarding discounts, it's easier to get them if you're not trading in for sure, and paying cash!

I think that's a cracking deal mate, if you think the CB is the right bike for you. And you did get a great deal on the Gixxer in the first place.

Reckon you may be able to get more than £7k for the Gixxer if you sold it privately though (otherwise the dealers wouldn't be interested)

I agree - but it's the hassle factor of advertising, timewasters, p/x, finance, etc, etc...........Dealer is the quick easy option, and I think the price is fair.

Going for a long test ride tomorrow - might also try the new Blade - just in case!
