137 is the best I've done on the CB, and it was work to get there. Once into triple digits, accelerations gets a little slow. Fastest ever was on my 2007 CBR1000RR at 179mph, and it would get there super easy, but would not pass 179 for nothing. I tried several times, but couldn't pass it. I worked nights at the time, getting off work between 1-3am, and there is a stretch of freeway that is dead arrow straight for quite a few miles, and not many on ramps, and no traffic in the middle of the night. Basically perfect circumstances for top speed runs. I tried so hard to hit 180, just could never do it. Fastest ever in a car was 142mph, same straight section of freeway, a 1992 Toyota MR2 Turbo. Car I have now is faster, but I no longer have anyplace to get a higher top speed haha.

Most speedos with just stop reading. I know my 2009 1000rr would do 186mph and keep reving but the Speedo stoped. I never topped my 2006

The fastest I've seen on the CB, with a small windscreen to get down behind, is 144 on the clock. How accurate that is I don't know

With a car 145 on the clock in an E-Type jag I owned for a couple of years. Back in the days with no radar cameras. Lol.

Had my Labrador on the small back seat. He seemed to like it. One of the fastest dogs in the district.---

True, but I don't think it'd stop at 179. 186 makes sense because most manufactures agreed to a 300km/h top speed a while ago, which translates to 186mph. Plus at the time I was on a CBR1000RR forum, and other members claimed higher top speeds. I think I was just too tall and fat to get aerodynamic enough lol (6'3" and 235lbs at the time).

I remember seeing a magazine discover that the 2012 CBR was limited to about 176 (strangely) but the previous models had no speed limiter AFAIK.

Yeah 186 is the usual figure, but Performance Bikes tested it and it wouldn't go past 176 (I can't find the article now though)

Head wind? Fat rider? badly tuned bike? But the restriction is still supposedly 186.
