Why can I not find 520 sprokets?

I've ran 520 on my last 2 liter bikes with no issues why is it that I can't find anything 520 for the CB1000r???

There's no way it's not possible

Is any of the components interchangeable where I could make my own 520 kit?

Try a specialist company - here in the uk outfits like B&C Express can hook you up (they also support major race teams) - the only issue might be the rear which is similar to the VFR but not much else out there - custom rear sprockets can easily be sorted though - probably not as straightforward as a superbike conversion though - would be great if you post up your solution

I got kinda angry about this last night and went on a hour long searching tirade.

So far I've gathered that I'm 99% sure it can be done.

Vortex makes a 44t 520 rear but only in bare aluminum for the vfr800. I'd honest rather have steal on the CB

I'm 90% the front sproket is interchangeable to a 06-07 1000rr. 520 front are easy to find for them.

Please excuse my ignorance but what's the advantage in 520?

520 is the gauge right? So 520 is less heavy duty than 530?

Saves a bit of weight, and you're correct about the 530 being stronger. A good 520 chain will handle the power of our bikes (they say) but may wear out quicker.

Less rotating weight. Less weight the motor physically has to turn means less power being robbed from the drive train before it hits the ground. It has nothing (well, very very very little) to do with the overall weight of the bike. Anything the motor turns, like sprockets, chain, or wheels, etc, will feel like more power. I say feel, because it doesn't add power, just prevents it from being stolen, in its simplest explanation anyways.

I also tried to do this when I first got the CB, but quickly gave up. I've done it on all my CBR's. It was much more noticeable on my 600's than 1000's, but still noticeable. I've actually gave up on almost everything for the CB haha. I love the bike and ride it all the time, but it's the most stock bike I've stuck with. I'm always doing stuff to my bikes, but there's just not much out there for the CB. Very small aftermarket for it, which is probably a good thing, prevents me from dumping a ton of money into it.

I think I'm going to try the vortex aluminum rear. I'm not sure how long it's going to last but we will see.....

At this point it's more of doing it because it's difficult than for any real upgrade.
