new 2016 CB1000R NOT at EiCMA

I was surfing the Italian CB1000R forum and came across this very interesting post (apologies for rough auto-translation):

    New CB1000R in 2016

    UNREAD_POSTof titian Tuesday, June 2, 2015, 17:51

guys this morning with my group around 180km from riding my new gsx after you write 'the second report cmq meeting a guy in a park with a cb black and immediately attack rumor (among others and' friend of one of my group) in short this gentleman works in honda atessa to the maintenance department (do not tell you how much he paid his former test cb journalists then extracted give the possibility 'for a dip. to buy it at a political price) he told me that they will redesign CB1000 and will be 'submitted in 2016 does not know many details, but this means that Honda still believes in the project was now the source I think it comes from a trusted internal working factory he also spoke of a new hornet

Well, the usual time for introducing new models is EICMA and that has come and gone... with no new CB! Maybe the interpretation was that the re-design will take place DURING 2016, with the new model coming for 2017 m.y.?

    Still holding my breath...

The new CB1000R won't (if you ask me) be released until after the new CBR (think R1 and MT 10)

I agree with above. The new fireblade was released before the cb1000r in 2008. So imo will probably be a watered down version of the current blade engine with hopefully some tasty upgrades to the chassis and electronics

They also only realy had one previous Gen to go back to unless they where going to use a 954 motor.

The 08+ motor would be an improvement. But I have hopes the the next 1000rr will be a V4 and a V4 cb1000r would be amazing.......

Yep, Honda is uber conservative - the new Yams and GSXR were announced at fairly short notice as was the ZX10 - no new blade for 2016 (wsb teams are testing the old blade) BUT a likely development in 2016 ready for this time next year.

The CB1R ? Anything could happen - Blade 999 derived motor ? Beam frame ? Blade with no fairing approach ? Just another year to wait ? Interesting...

did you see the interview with Ronald ten Kate on the WSB site?
    WorldSBK

he says "Stressing that 2015 was a season of learning for van der Mark as he debuted in the World Superbike class, ten Kate went on to spiritedly suggest the arrival of a new Honda CBR Fireblade bike. “Well, it depends how far your horizon is there, of course,” he smiles. “On my horizon, there is something new coming...well…let’s stop that conversation here. My horizon is a little bit different to yours, I can confirm [laughs]."

I do hope we see an upgraded Cb in 2017; but i am a tad concerned if it uses the 2008 blade engine, they did have (may still have) oil consumption issues....now a v4
