USA vs. European Spec and 49 State vs 50 State

    Hello,

I have been a doing a lot of reading over the past few months through the forums. I have one question though.

What is the difference between USA spec CB1000Rs and others? Past experience leads me to believe most USA bikes are down a few HP for noise or emissions.

Also, what is the difference between 49 and 50 state approved models? 50 state models are avail in California and are usually down additional HP bc CA sucks like that.

Anyway, I have the 50 state USA model and would love to know if I can recapture the lost power somehow. Will a PCV and Yoshi 3/4 system do the job?

    thanks!

not sure of the difference, could be some small mapping change to the ecu.
one thing for certain, if you are not riding around full throttle, just grab a handful, and don't shut off. that's your lost power right there.

actually, Honda UK advertises the bike at 92 kW , which converts to 123.3hp

that'll be crankshaft hp. there are a broad range of rear wheel figures out there, but most lie around 108 hp plus or minus 2 or 3.
    piling the mileage on...

After fitting decat,Mivv Suono and pcv I was getting 117bhp at the back wheel.
Wasn't to worried with the figures was more interested with how smooth it ran.
Some are adamant the way you run a bike in will will dertemine what sort of bhp you finally end up putting out.
Didn't buy the bike new so have no idea how my bike was handled.
Have known some to totally ignore the running in period, this is the way to get maximum horsepower they tell me.
    Everyone has there own theory.

I looked and as far as I can tell, the 50 state version has the EVAP can and the CA filler neck. (both of those don't loose any hp).
some just cant stand the EVAP can, for some strange reason, I can understand that.

Not sure of the driveline losses on a motorcycle but I did 117whp with only an Ixil slip on. I did 112whp with the stock exhaust.
