Has anyone run an Akra with the cat in place?
With wheels out for new tyres, I've found at the last trackday I was scraping the standard exhaust (I did hear some scraping but couldn't find the evidence on the day) even on a cold & damp day and not trying that hard really.
Out this weekend and wondered if I should fit the Akra rear pipe to the standard Honda cat as no time to understand the PCIII gubbins.
Has anyone done this and with the standard ecu did it run all OK?
I will try and fit the full system and PCIII by the end of the month so its only a temporary solution.
Cheers
PS I did a search last night and found lots of quoted references to it, but want to hear from someone who has/is running this setup.

Thanks Mrcb1, for your reply , but there is many ideas on this issue, which really gets you in the same place you started from , like, I called demon-tweeks for this porblem and they told me that you have to have the power commander fitted, maybe these people will say this just to sell, or maybe not ,yet other people like yourself have told me that you don´t need it . To be hornest i believe it is more like you say , the system is still the same and the lamber sensor is still in place so it should still be doing its work. Mrcb1 have you already fitted this on your bike or know somebody that has and hasn´t had any problem . I have already ordered the link pipe to fit , so thanks again. araiman

No, the wife still has the standard exhaust on her CB1, but it's been modified "some internals cut out", however this was a BIG debate when the forum started. People went to their dealers and on-line to find out what Honda and others where saying about aftermarket exhausts. The conclusion was; as long as the lamba sensor was still fitted the ECU would adjust slightly to help the engine (Ant correct me if i'm wrong). As said in other post's; fitting a PCIII IS a good idea and WILL help to smooth out the fueling and add some BHP. 2 yrs after moding misscb1's bike, it's still running fine.

This issue has me totally confused too.... there doesn't seem to be a conclusive answer. If you read what the pipe manufacturers say then a PC3 should be fitted if the cat is removed.... plus for a few extra quid you get the extra ponies...

I think that's what was said, yes, but I got confused too. I think there was some talk about the range that the lambda sensor can deal with and only a Power Commander (or the like) can deal with that, but it's unlikely that you'll hit those ranges as they're beyond the operating specification of the engine and you already have big problems if you get to that point, so the lambda sensor picking it up or not won't save you

No, just repeated and repeated what others have said time and time again and again Check the amount of posts Ant has and 85% are about PC's and Lambda sensors
