...You could just take the bike for a long ride at the week-end/after work and keep the engine spinning above 4k revs to give the battery a good charge ?
Lack of riding , cold weather , and the drain of an alarm killed my battery and it wouldn't recover even with the charger !
:( :( :(

Yes I think this will be the easiest and most fun option

Post Re: Battery advice
Well that's it, the battery has finally decided to give up, and in style. After having recharged the battery on the optimate only a few days ago, bike's been firing up normally, as it did this morning.

Stop off at a petrol station on the way to work to check my tyre pressure, and once I'm done it won't fire up anymore! Still some juice left but not enough to get it going.

So here I am at a petrol station on the a4 with no way of starting the damn thing to get to work :angry

Didn't want to ask for jumper cables as I wasn't sure if that would do more damage, so I thought I'd try bump starting it, for the first time...

No downhill road, so my feet will have to do the work. And I seemed to recall I need to get it in second, however after clicking it into first it doesn't seem to go any further through the gears. What the hell, have to give it a go.

So while trying to focus on pushing hard (and not on the potential damage if I cock it up and drop the bike), I dump the clutch and it comes to life! :yay

Hopefully I won't have to do it again when I need to get home this evening...

I'm definitely buying another battery now, and will keep it regularly topped up. I'll keep the current one as a one-night spare when I'm charging the new one.

Out of curiosity, why did you go from neutral to first when you wanted second? You could've gone straight to second.

Anyway, sorry to hear that the battery is dead already. IMHO that's just not right, so I hope that the new one works properly, else you definitely have a short somewhere in there.

Best of luck

Anyone have the manual handy to check on the battery model? I'm guessing it'll be cheaper online vs. dealer

Hold that thought, taking it to the dealer to have it checked, still under warranty so hopefully will get one free, or if the problem is elsewhere will find out
