No the switch is the relay which switches everything on and off triggered by the signal from the rear light going on and off, if that makes sense

What exactly is your question here? The connection to the rear-light circuit, as shown in the OP, is only to switch the relay (connector #85), the power is supplied from the battery, via the relay (connector #30).
