Visually, I agree.
I'm probably in the minority on this, but has anyone ripped off the stock muffler immediately after getting their CB only to realize a year or more later that it looks like something is missing? I have come to realize that that crazy stock exhaust is too big a part of the styling of the bike to just ignore and remove. I have the Ixil muffler on my bike and it looks cool and sounds good, but I'm considering putting the stock muff back on. I'm not worried about weight or performance... Thoughts?
Visually, I agree.
Totally agree. It's now a rare sight to see the stock item. Makes the bike stand out amongst all those Look-A-Likes.---
My thoughts are intended to provide a sounding board for your own.
Some of what I say may go against your own thoughts and may seem harsh, targeted and malicious.
This is not my intention – I am simply using my experience, including other peoples, as a way of debating and giving advice - of which there is no guarantee that it's correct
Yep! stock muff is a real Gem, one of the best on any stock bike, just wish it sounded as good as it looks!
Watch out for them tractors!
But I'm not giving up my Ixil. It looks like the original should have.
Now ... If there were a good looking alternative that filled in the space left by the original and combined lean shotgun looks like the Ixil, well I might be swayed. But only maybe.
I agree, I said I wouldn't change mine as i felt very few followed the lines and I couldn't justify the expense. I don't like the smaller ones as I feel they bring the sound to close your ear level and leave a lot of space shown.
Then I was offered this one second hand at a good price and I love arrows, plus it follows the lines. I bought it then kept an eye out for a carbon cat cover to finish it off which luckily didn't take to long to find.
Must have kept the original on for 4 years always felt it looked good.
