    Potential new CB1000r owner

    Hi all,

I've owned a few Honda's over the years the most notable recent Honda being a Blackbird and I moved from that after six years to the ZZR1400. Both are phenomenal bikes. Long story short injuries catching up with me are making it more difficult as time passes to ride in the sports bike riding position so I want to get on to an upright for more comfort. When comparing the big engined naked bikes I've long fancied the Honda so I'm going to look at one this week.

Is this bike familiar to anyone on here? It's a 2008 bike with 23K miles. The exhaust has been decatted and a PCIII fitted and it's been dyno'd. Reg LL58 GHF.

I was love with the Blackbird back in the day. I was still fairly new to riding and got a CBR600F3 instead. Then my cousin wrecked his Shadow 600 and went and bought the Blackbird. Man, I was soooooo jealous haha.

Anyways, welcome to the site. I'm not familiar with that exact bike, but the CB1000R in general is a very refined bike and a blast to ride.

That black CB looks great - all I can say is that the CB is one of the most comfortable bikes I've ridden and very accommodating

you'll find the CB a blast to ride and ( for me at least) all day comfortable, but you've got to expect way bigger neck muscle development than on the Blackbird and ZZR. it gets a bit windy out there on the naked above about 80mph!
    piling the mileage on...

The CB is't as roomy as either the Blackbird or the Kwak but it handles a lot better in the twisties ......... enjoy

Thanks for the welcome. I'm looking forward to seeing the CB and riding home on it but I shall be sorry to see the big Zed go as it is an incredible bike.

I've had to postpone my trip to view the CB until a week Saturday. I've put a deposit down though so if I like the CB and the seller likes the ZZR then we're good to go.

Finally picked it up last Friday. It's go an HID fitted so I think I'll either replace the ballast or remove the kit and reinstate the stock set up with a decent bulb. The ballast isn't always firing up and if I switch to high beam it switches off the dipped beam for a second before both dipped and high come on. If I use the flasher instead the dipped remains on and the high comes on straight away. Odd behavior.
