Newbie to the CB1000R and this forum!

    Hi all,

I bought my first big bike, the CB1000R a couple of weeks ago after passing my direct access test at the ripe old age of just over 40
I'd been thinking about biking for years and finally got around to take the time to pass my test and choose a first bike (my only experience on a bike prior to this was about 20 years ago for a few months on a Honda 90!). After numerous test rides on different machinery I chose the CB100R and am delighted with my decision. It's just over a year old and had 280 miles on the clock when I picked it up!

Interestingly the original owner made a few choice upgrades including adding a tail tidy, adjustable levers, steering damper, exhaust upgrade etc. although never really got to enjoy them.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm not a big fan of the tail tidy and am now looking to fit the original rear registration plate holder, light and bracket.
Do you happen to know where I could find one or if someone here has one in a corner of their garage looking for a home?

    Welcome to the site!

Geeze, with enormous license plates like that, I'd want the full rear end too haha. Wow, those are HUGE.

Now there are two of us talking about the standard rear end on the bike. I've kept the standard end because I don't all that mud and muck sprayed up my back in wet weather.----

You should be able to find what you want because 90% of the CB riders have dumped the original back end for a tail tidy.

You can easily tell who they are by the big sort of skid mark up the back of their biking gear.---

Thanks Yes the number plates here don't help the look of the bike!

    Thanks Colvert!

Good to know it's not just me that is getting sprayed and want to do something about it.
The downside of living in the UK is that we get a lot of rain here so I can't be a fair weather rider if I want to get any seat time.

Thanks Tall Steve. It's a shame I'm more than a few miles away.
If you fancy sending it over my way I'd be happy to sort you out with some dollars if I can't find one a bit closer to home....

    Welcome Martin,

I am another advocate of the standard tail unit, so can't help you directly. But there is one on ebay HERE

    Thanks Geordie!
I've seen this one but it needs the number plate holder in addition to the bracket. Ideally I'm looking to get the entire unit in one piece so the wear/colour etc. is consistent.

Just give it a little while. There must be hundreds of them lying about in peoples garages. You just need someone to spot your post.--
